Baron de Ley

The Baron de Ley is a wine from the Rioja region in Spain.

Blanco Semidulce

The Blanco Semidulce is a wine that I found in Costco. This wine caught my attention for being a white Rioja - most wines from Rioja are red; as well as the extravagant bottle design.

Jorel's Notes

The Blanco Semidulce is a semi-sweet wine with extremely fruity notes and a very smooth taste. It is very delicate on the palate and is a great starter for people who do not particularly like wines. It probably pairs exceptionally well with desserts given a semi-sweet wine.

Reserva

The Reserva is a wine that Jaron found in Costco while looking for the Blanco Semidulce white Baron de Ley wine. It is a red wine made from a combination of Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana.

Jorel's Notes

This wine has a notable but subtle spice aroma on the nose. It has a great spicy hit on the palate which has some wonderfully sharp berry-esque flavours. It feels almost jammy to me, but I haven't had enough jammy wines to compare it with to come to a sound conclusion. After a while, the spicy hit calms down, but leaves a dryness in the mouth.

I'm not too sure what this pairs well with, but I can imagine this would pair exceptionally well with some spicy food if you really want to go for a kick in things - the red wine tannins and the sharp hit at the start of the palate would complement . It would pair well with some "lightweight" red meats (non-salty), or perhaps something like a roast goose or duck (not turkey) with gravy - something hearty/gamey and with some sauce to balance out the dryness.
